These images were inspired by the 2008 Olympic Games as I proudly witnessed Usain “Lightening” Bolt of Jamaica command his gold medal trifecta (100m, 200m and 4 x 100m Relay) in track and field. Though I will never see the likes of Olympic gold, seeing Usain’s running shoes reminded me of the night I rocked these babies at a company Christmas party in what seemed like a marathon on the dance floor. My feet deserve a medal of some kind for going the distance; we closed the bar that night!

Oh, and just to be clear (lest we forget), Usain Bolt’s “golden shoes” are not an original idea. The person who debuted such shoes is Michael Johnson of the USA (one of the greatest athletes in Olympic history) during his dominating performance at the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta where he, too, won gold and shattered world records in the 200m and 400m.
