This is more test footage of a few of my favourite things that I shot a couple of weeks ago from my dining table. I’ve been using it to practise in Sony Vegas. I know the footage is pretty bad, but it’s all I have to work with at the moment. I’ve been playing around with some of Vegas’ features and I’m finally beginning to understand how NLE (non-linear editing) software works.
Things are moving along pretty well with Vegas considering the short time I’ve been working with it (a few days in my spare time). I think I’ve gotten most of the basics down pretty well. Now I’m beginning to get familiar with some of the more advance functions and learn how to set up a proper workflow.
As for the HV30 and filming, things are going a bit slower (what little filming I’ve done has been in “auto” mode). There is sooooo much to learn and it’s moving along, except that my sorry little tripod is killin’ me. As bad as this footage is now, it was a LOT worse, believe me. I edited out as much of the jerkiness as I could and tried to cover some of it with crossfades (limited editing skills at the moment), but this dayum tripod is a trip.
Note: The full-sized HD (high def) version can be viewed here.
I’ve been using it for my DSLR camera with no problems, but it’s definitely not good for video. The good news is that I have a new tripod on the way (thanks for the recommendations Scott) that should deliver much smoother panning and tilting. I should have it in a couple of days; in time for some weekend shooting. In the meantime, this is my latest project.
