First Photo Taken With My iPhone 3GS

I GOT IT! Yes, I came home to my new iPhone 3GS Friday evening. I am beside myself with excitement, to say the least. This image was taken indoors near a window this afternoon. Minor colour correction in post, but nothing major. Anyone interested in seeing the original image, just comment or email me.

I guess the image quality isn’t too bad for a little 3.2MP phone camera with no flash, but honestly, I was hoping for better. Didn’t expect to see so much graininess, esp. on black areas, but this is a definite improvement over my old phone camera (Nokia 6085, see previous post). Perhaps images taken outdoors or under better lighting conditions will be better. Now I see why there are iPhone camera apps like iFlashReady. Definitely going to check into those.

This is what the same image looks like in Black & White. I actually prefer this version. I do so love B&W photography. For me, it has a certain sexiness about it.

I really can’t complain because the iPhone 3GS is loaded with many other impressive features that more than compensate for the low image quality. Plus, I have three other cameras to use if I really wanna get down and dirty. I’ll be posting more iPhone images soon.

[UPDATE - 7.27.09] This morning I received an email from one of my aunts who visits this site (thank you, Auntie). This is what she said after seeing this image (bless her heart):

“That is a funny looking phone. Do you talk on it? What purse is big enough to hold it?”

Okay, listen up everyone. The above image is of the BOX in which the iPhone was packaged. That is NOT the iPhone itself. It’s just the box. I was USING the iphone camera to take the shot. Just to be clear.
