Appletini This!
urban masala on 05 12, 2008

While prepping for New Year’s dinner the other night and trying to figure out how to slip in a couple of martinis at the office something different to serve for dessert, this idea came to me. Sour apple martinis were already on the menu, so I broke out the Shustoff and the gelatin, and — voilĂ ! Straight coolness.
Ah, now this is my idea of a perfect celebratory dessert. What could be better than having a light, refreshing dessert and one of America’s favourite cocktails at once? Simply slammin’! Not your typical jello shots, for sure.
This is definitely “grown folks” jello, y’all!
Flavour hint: Think vodka and apple flavored Jolly Ranchers.

Appletini Gelatin Recipe
Source: Own creation, inspired by the Apple Martini
16 oz. vodka (your favourite)
24 oz. Rose’s Sour Apple Mix
4 1-oz. packets of unflavored gelatin
16 oz water, boiling hot
Chill vodka for a couple of hours.
Pour sour apple mix into a large glass bowl, sprinkle in gelatin and let stand for 1 minute. Add hot water, stir until completely dissolved, about 5 minutes.
Stir in vodka. Pour mixture into 13 x 9 x 2-inch non-stick pan or glass container and refrigerate until firm, approx. 4 hours. Cut into 1-inch squares and serve immediately. Keep unused portion refrigerated.
