Weight-Loss Goals: June 2008

A couple of weeks ago I decided that it is time to put my best foot forward and make a sincere effort to do something about my excess weight. I’ve been gearing myself up mentally for this day for quite a while and I finally feel ready to get this party started. As I began to seriously clean up my eating habits today, I realised that having some type of structure or guide would probably make things a lot easier. I’m not really into “diets” per se, but after researching the South Beach Diet, I came to the conclusion that this would be a good guide for me to follow. I believe it will be conducive to my transition to healthier eating and for the most part, it parallels my basic eating style.

Though the word “diet” is part of its title, South Beach is not a diet in the typical sense. It’s more of a sensible approach to eating that encourages making healthy food choices, with particular emphasis on good carbs and good fats. I feel I will be able to continue this plan for the long haul and I’m quite excited about incorporating it into my lifestyle. I believe that restoring routine and balance to my day-to-day life is extremely important and will play a major roll in my weight loss success.

That said, here are my goals for the remaining 23 days of this month (beginning today). My starting weight is 262. I would like it to be 250, or very close, by July 1. My action plan to meet this goal is clean eating and exercise.
