Weigh-In: Week2

Okay, I’ve done it again. Managed to lose more weight this week; another 3 pounds, exactly. Together with last week’s loss, my total is now 12.5 pounds, which meant that I have met my weight-loss goal for June. To say that I am pleased is an understatement, all things considered. Last week’s loss dropped me out of the 260s and this week, I’m officially out of the 250s, albeit by only .5 pounds. But hey, I’m taking it and running with it, okay?! Especially since I haven’t exactly been making all of my other June goals. Still haven’t started exercising yet, no walking, no yoga, no dancing, except in the car Friday morning on my way to work listening to Parliment-Funkadelic.

I haven’t been logging my food either, so I’m not exactly sure how many calories I’ve been eating. Not sure if it’s because I’m too busy or too lazy (probably a combination of both), but I am sure of is that I’ve obviously cut back enough to drop another 3 pounds.

Speaking of eating, I did break the rules a bit yesterday. I had lunch at Ichi Bon Japanese Steakhouse & Sushi Bar with a couple of coworkers yesterday. The good news is that we had sushi, and since eating more fish is one of my goals, I believe that meal qualified … well kind of, sort of. I really like sushi a lot and I’ve been hearing such great reviews about this place that I had to give it a try. The bad news is sushi is made with white rice, which I’m supposed to avoid, and soy sauce causes me to retain fluid. Though I did monitor my soy sauce intake, I’m realised last night that I was a bit puffy, so I’m pretty sure the combination of white rice and soy sauce had a negative impact on my weigh-in this morning. But hey, I could have been worse, so I’m cool with that since I’ve also been preparing most of my meals at home and I’ve only eaten out a couple of times, which is a marked improvement from everyday. I think I’ll experiment with making sushi using brown rice and see what I can come up with. When I do, I’ll post it here.

What I have been doing right is meeting my water/fluid intake goal, thanks to those little packets of sugar-free flavors that you add to water, like Crystal Light and Hawaiian Punch. Though I don’t plan to use them forever, they are getting me over the hump for now.

All-in-all, I think this week was okay, so I give myself a C+. I do believe I would have lost more had I exercised and monitored myself a bit more closely, but it is what it is. I’ll just make more of an effort next week.
